Belgium's Grand Prix in Spa-Francorchamps (28-30 August) is considered one of the best races in the world, with a track that cuts through lush Ardennes Forest and verdant mountains. Even if you can't make race weekend, Southern Belgium (or Wallonia), is well worth a visit. Dubbed Belgium's Tuscany, the area boasts a number of stunning pit stops, including the natural hot springs of Spa, the tiny medieval town of Durbuy and the romantic hilltop city of Mons. Read on for our top tips and handpicked travel deals, including a winning selection of F1 offers.

TRAVELZOO'S TOP TIPS

GETTING AROUND. The Grand Prix takes place at Spa-Francorchamps, 86 miles from Brussels, and a 40-minute drive from Liege. All Eurostar tickets from the UK include onward travel to any destination in Belgium (from Brussels, change at Verviers and travel onwards to Spa).

RELAX. The village of Chaudfontaine (around 20 miles from Spa, and 7 from Liege) boasts Belgium's only hot springs. Dip your toe in the open-air swimming pool at the luxurious Château des Thermes, which is naturally heated to 34 degrees.

DRINK. Tour La Chouffe brewery in the Ardenne and sample a drop of its award-winning blonde ale with an Esprit D'achouffe chaser, a brandy distilled from 5-year old beer. Cheers!

SEE. If you can't make the Grand Prix, head to the Spa-Francorchamps Racetrack Museum to see over 80 vintage cars housed in the vaulted cellars of the ancient Abbey de Stavelot.

GOLF. Royal Golf Club Des Fagnes, just outside Spa, dates back to the 1920s, and is considered one of Europe's best courses.

BIKE. Explore the banks of the Molignée River in the Dinant area on a quirky 'railbike', a purpose-built wagon attached to disused train tracks that spans almost four miles of stunning countryside.

TASTE. Sample a traditional Gaufre de Liège, a dense, sweet waffle with a burned sugar coating that originated in Liege in the 18th century. Pick one up at La Batte, the city's open-air street market that takes place every Sunday.

DRIVE. For a taste of the action, get behind the wheel at Karting des Fagnes in Mariembourg (Namur Province). The go-kart track is Europe's largest.

FREE. Buy a race ticket for Sunday 30 August and get free transfers from popular destinations such as Brussels, Liege, Mons, Luxembourg and more.
