Destination: Thailand

<img src="http://cache.travelzoo.com/images/Thai22_775x252.jpg" alt="noembed" width="775" height="252" />

From blinding white sand beaches lapped by the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea to the bustling metropolis of Bangkok, home to no fewer than 400 temples, Thailand ticks all the boxes for an exotic longhaul escape. What it also offers in spades is value for money -- whether you're buying a beachside massage, a tailor-made suit lined with Thai silk or a lychee martini. According to a recent Post Office survey, Thailand tops the charts as the best-value longhaul destination, coming in at two and a half times cheaper than the Caribbean and the USA. We've hand-picked a selection of the best travel deals around to help you plan a bargain break to the Land of the Smiles.

Travelzoo's top tips and bargains

SHOP. Bangkok tailors can knock up a suit or three within 24 hours. Prices start from just £80. Or nab a Vera Wang-inspired wedding dress for under £200.

BEACH. The Phi Phi Islands are simply stunning. Think white sand beaches and aquamarine waters. Leo DiCaprio filmed 'The Beach' on Phi Phi Le.

GOLF. Thailand boasts over 200 courses, most with stunning views. Tee off for as little as £5 a round. Hire a caddy for around £5 - versus £50 in the UK.

GET AROUND. Bangkok's Skytrain is an elevated monorail linking popular hotspots. Single fares cost 28p, or splash out on a day card for around £2.

SPA. Take some tropical time out at the herbal steam caves at Tamarind Springs Forest Spa in Koh Samui, which is surrounded by coconut groves.

RELAX. Head to the massage training centre at Wat Po Monastery in Bangkok. A 30-minute traditional rub down will set you back around £4.

SEE. The majestic Hindu-Buddhist temple ruins at Phanom Rung are perched on top of an extinct volcano. The summit offers views of Cambodia.

FREE. Join locals for a spot of Tai Chi at Lumphini Park, Bangkok. Free open-air exercise sessions take place here every morning.

EAT. The night bazaar in Chiang Mai is crammed full of food stalls. Tuck into local dishes, including spicy barbecued chicken and sticky rice.
